New planning application – have your say
You will recall the successful campaign a few years ago to fight the plan to build houses on Snitterton Fields, which would have been part of a major housing development in Cawdor quarry. The application was granted for development in a series of phases – with just six houses on the fields (closest to Permanite) – and the flats and houses that you see in Matlock Spa Road, on the way to Sainsbury’s, are the first phase of that plan.
The developers have now submitted a new application, in which the next phase of the development proposes significantly more houses than the original application — now 203 units, mainly in flats, instead of the previous 108. This is obviously significantly higher density and raises a number of concerns. If approved, it may also set a precedent to apply for even more houses after this phase.
The Cawdor Community Campaign has been formed to scrutinise this new application and submit any concerns from the local community.
